Who Hosts and Plans the Orange County Events?

The OCCAC Board Members host dances and fundraisers several times a year, along with monthly board meetings where members are invited to attend and help us plan our social calendar and volunteer.  The majority of events are hosted and organized by our members themselves.  The club encourages members to participate in sponsoring an activity at least once a year, preferably something they like doing or might interest them and inviting others to join them.  The member then picks a date and time they would like to host the event, and the club then lists it in the monthly newsletter, and helps out with the event where necessary.

Choosing an Event to Attend

The OCCAC offers a wide variety of activities which include religious, social, community service, athletic, and travel events.  We suggest that you actually come to one or more of our events and try them out.  With the varied interests of potential and current members, you may find that what happens at a certain event is as different as the people who attend them.  This also gives potential members a feel for the difference between a large and small scale event.  And please, always remember to RSVP for an event!  (Dances excluded)

Some of the events the OCCAC offers are:

  •  Dances - A favorite CAC social event!
  •  House Parties, Games Nights - Friendly, low-pressure gatherings at members' homes. Great icebreakers and a way to meet others!
  •  Dinner and Event Nights - An evening (or afternoon) with fellow CACers at a local restaurant, along with a movie, Mass or other venue.
  •  Monthly Group Masses - Followed by Brunch or Dinner at a local Parish, or at someone's home followed by a Potluck.
  •  Bar-B-Ques and Picnics -Alone or sponsored with other groups, these are always well attended events.
  •  Community Volunteering - An essential element of Catholic life.
  •  Theatre, Concerts, Museums and other Cultural Events -There is plenty of things to do and see in the greater Southern California area, all within a short drive.
  •  Volleyball, Golf, Tennis, Hiking, Camping, and other Sporting Events -Join us for one of our co-sponsored games or camping at a local mountain spot.
  •  Ski Trips and other Weekend Getaways -Nearby Ski Resorts and many exciting weekend trips such as Las Vegas or Laughin are within a few hours drive.
  •  Special Events -Check out our links to special events in around the county, state, country and world!

Regional and National Conventions

Full and Associate/Equivalent members are also eligible to attend the annual CACI National Convention and the CAC Regional Weekends, where members of your local CAC can join together with other CAC members from around the country for an enjoyable vacation.  These events are planned and hosted by the National CACI Committee and the Regional Officers.  Places where the events take place change from year to year.  Our Regional events are hosted in major cities in the West, Mid-West, and East Coast, usually on holiday weekends.  While our National Convention is a week long adventure.  In the past, National Conventions have been held in Hawaii, San Antonio, Nova Scotia, and Anchorage.  This years 2010 National Convention will be held in the beautiful Rocky Mountains city of Colorado Springs, CO.

*Please note- The OCCAC wants everyone to have a great time at all our events, and in keeping with that, the OCCAC has the right to refuse admittance to anyone who poses a risk to members and their safety.  Also note that members participate at their own risk, and the OCCAC does not admit liability.
